Both before and during treatment, the above rules from the section "Basic rules of dental treatment for diabetes" (link to the article) were observed
But, of course, the dentist must also have knowledge of the specifics of working with diabetics.

Features of prosthetics in diabetes mellitus
For prosthetics, we offer bioinert materials:

all-ceramic E-Max crowns or zirconium dioxide crowns (the melall contained in the cermets can irritate the gums);
removable dentures made of hypoallergenic plastic or nylon (acrylic monomers can cause allergies).
Features of implantation in diabetes mellitus
It is best to choose implants made of pure titanium, without impurities. For example, in the clinic we offer Shtraumann implants. They are considered one of the best implants and are recommended for people with diabetes.

In addition, since the exchange of trace elements is impaired, the survival rate of implants is delayed, and it is recommended to perform prosthetics on implants no earlier than 6 months after their installation. For prosthetics on implants in diabetes, to reduce the risk of delayed complications, it is advisable to choose screw fixation of orthopedic structures.

Orthodontic treatment for diabetes mellitus.
For orthodontic treatment, preference is also given to hypoallergenic materials:

Removable plates made of hypoallergenic plastic.
Aligners / Invisalign (mouthguards) - less likely to injure mucous membranes, better oral hygiene.
Aesthetic or sapphire braces (which contain less metal). In cases where there are contraindications for aligners.
In this case, any intervention and type of construction must be previously agreed with the dentist and endocrinologist after examination and collection of anamnesis.

Contraindications to implantation in diabetes mellitus
Sugar jumps.
Uncompensated stage of diabetes.
Chronic infections and concomitant diseases (thyroid diseases, arthritis, rheumatism, mental disorders, bleeding disorders, oncology, tuberculosis, etc.)
Untreated or in the acute stage of oral disease.
The tendency to form blood clots.
Diseases of the cardiovascular system.

Active smoking with the impossibility of long-term cessation of cigarettes.
The use of alcohol, drugs.
Failure to observe thorough oral hygiene.

How to prepare for implantation, prosthetics and orthodontics for diabetes mellitus?
To pass tests: a general blood test, a blood sugar test, a general urine test.
Visit an endocrinologist and therapist and agree on the upcoming intervention.
Consult a dentist, conduct examinations (for example, orthopantomography, computed tomography) and draw up a treatment plan.
Undergo a professional hygiene procedure to remove dental plaque.
If necessary, undergo periodontal treatment (gum treatment).
To cure caries and its complications (pulpitis, periodontitis, "cysts").
Remove teeth that cannot be cured.
If necessary, carry out whitening (if there are no contraindications).
How does implantation work in diabetes?
The actual procedure of implantation for diabetes is no different from implantation under normal conditions and follows the standard protocol (you can read it here). After the intervention, antibiotics and pain relievers are necessarily prescribed. And additional examinations may be assigned in the postoperative period.

Implant guarantee for diabetes mellitus.
Not only with diabetes, but also under normal conditions, it is impossible to guarantee 100% engraftment of the implant. There is always a small percentage of rejection, which entails the need to repeat the procedure. In addition, with diabetes, there is a risk of implant rejection at a later date (after 3-5 years).

Nevertheless, despite all the difficulties, implantation better allows for full functional, psychological and aesthetic rehabilitation of patients than removable prosthetics.
